About Me
Who am I?

Hi! I'm Jamie. I'm a qualified person-centred counsellor and a member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (Register Number 396281), based in Ringwood, Hampshire. I enjoy Lapsang Souchong tea, going for rambling walks in no particular direction, and I really, really enjoy being a counsellor.
I would consider it a privilege to be able to explore your life with you, and help you untangle how you really feel about it all, while striving to provide you with an environment where you can feel free from judgements and expectations.

No one can be perfect for everyone, and each counsellor-client relationship is so different. Sometimes I meet a person and it seems like we can immediately talk about almost anything. Sometimes, despite efforts, we just can't seem to click. Things don't feel right for the person, and it turns out that they can overcome this by working with a different counsellor who just feels more right for them. That's natural and okay!

Mostly, though, I meet a person and it takes a while. It can feel a bit strange to talk about such private thoughts and feelings to someone you've just met. We chat for a few sessions, maybe two, maybe ten. We get to experience how chatting to this other person works. The person gets to experience that I can be trusted to not tell them that they're the problem, to sit on the outside of their lives and tell them what they need to do to fix their lives. I'm there with you, and I know it's not that simple. It's complicated, but together we will find a way to understand.

Personal Experience

Sometimes it can be helpful to know that the person we're opening up to has personal experience in an area, as well as professional. As a non-monogamous non-binary trans man, I hope to be able to offer a space where people can explore their experience of all aspects of their identity, particularly gender and sexuality, without fear of alienation. I also have a keen personal, as well as professional, interest in neurodiversity.
